Skoda Cars Price Hike Announced In India: New Prices Are Effective From Next Year
Skoda Auto has announced a price increase on its entire cars line-up in the Indian market. The new price hike will be effective starting from January 1, 2021. All Skoda cars sold in the country will receive a price increase of 2.5 per cent next year.
As a result, the amount of price increase depends on the model and its variants. The company sells the Rapid, Octavia RS245, Karoq and the Superb in the Indian market. Skoda announced that the price increase is due to the increasing input costs needed to manufacture the cars in the country.
Skoda Auto India spokesperson said in a statement, said, "There has been a surge in the cost of our inputs for production due to significant volatility in the global commodity prices and foreign exchange rates in recent times. Skoda Auto India has been absorbing these incremental costs, all this while, but is now considering a price increase of up to 2.5 per cent with effect from January 1, across its model range."
Speaking about the brand's entry-level offering, the Skoda Rapid is currently available in five variants: Rider Plus, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. The base variants of the Rapid now stars at Rs 7.99 lakh. While the top-spec Rapid Monte Carlo AT retails at Rs 13.29 lakh. All prices mentioned are before discounts, ex-showroom (India).
The company recently announced a set of year-end offers for the Rapid sedan. he Rapid sedan is being offered with benefits of up to Rs 75,000 and other perks during the month of December 2020 — here are all details.
The Skoda Octavia RS 245 was launched in the Indian market earlier this year. The company imported only 200 examples of the performance sedan in the country. There are reports of some models still available in the country. The Skoda Octavia RS 245 retails at Rs 36 lakh, ex-showroom (India).
The Skoda Superb is currently the brand's flagship model sold in the country. The Skoda Superb facelift comes in two variants: Sportline & L&K. The premium luxury sedan retails at a starting price of Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 32.99 lakh, ex-showroom (India).
Although the Skoda Karoq is listed on the brand's Indian website, it is currently unavailable in the county. Zac Hollins, Director for Sales, Service & Marketing at Skoda Auto India has confirmed that the first batch of Karoq SUV is sold-out in the Indian market.
