Skoda Sub 4m SUV To Be Launched Next Year: All Details Here
Skoda Auto India is gearing up to launch a new SUV in the ever-growing and highly competitive sub-4m SUV category. This news raises some expectations regarding the model and here's what Skoda is likely to offer with its upcoming sub-4m SUV.
For starters, the upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV will use the same MQB-A0 IN platform as the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia. This will save Skoda a lot of time and money in developing the model.
As such, we also expect this upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV to be powered by the same powertrain options as the Skoda Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan. However, the more powerful 1.5TSI engine is not likely to be a part of the options list.
As a result, Skoda's upcoming sub-4m SUV in India will be powered by the automaker's trusted 1.0TSI engine. This 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine in the Kushaq and Slavia is tuned to produce 114bhp and 178Nm of torque.
In terms of transmission options, the model is expected to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. In terms of fuel efficiency figures, we expect slightly improved figures compared to the Kushaq SUV.
In terms of size, we expect the upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV to be similar to Hyundai Venue in size, albeit slightly wider. Moreover, thanks to its sub-4m footprint, expect the model to be pretty convenient in urban spaces.
Design-wise, we expect the upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV to have a design that is very European but not very similar to the outgoing Kushaq SUV. This is likely due to the fact that the model may sport a split headlamp setup.
That being said, the upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV will come with a very prominent Skoda grille that neatly merges with the two LED DRLs positioned at both ends. We also expect these LED DRLs to double up as LED turn indicators (sequential type).
In terms of pricing, we expect the upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV to be on the expensive side as the model comes with more "premium" components as standard, such as a turbocharged petrol engine. We expect prices to start around Rs 9 lakh.

The launch of the Skoda's 4m SUV in 2025 is expected to attract more customers to the segment. We also, expect this model to give tough competition to the likes of top-selling models such as Nexon, Brezza, Venue and more.
