Hyundai Collaborates With Children's Hospital Of Michigan For Enhanced Car Seat Safety
In a significant move towards enhancing child passenger safety, Hyundai Hope, the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor America, has joined forces with the Children's Hospital of Michigan. This collaboration is centered around bolstering the hospital's Injury Prevention Program, with a particular focus on initiatives designed to ensure the safety of young passengers. A notable aspect of this partnership is Hyundai Hope's donation, which will be instrumental in acquiring car seats for the hospital's car seat safety program.
At the heart of this initiative is the shared commitment to safeguarding children on the road. Benjamin Michajlyszyn, director of the Safety Test and Investigation Laboratory (STIL) at Hyundai Motor America, underscored the importance of this collaboration. He highlighted Hyundai's dedication to automotive safety and its efforts to protect young passengers in the local community through this partnership.
The initiative officially commenced with a car seat safety check event hosted at the hospital's Specialty Center. This event saw the participation of Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST), who played a crucial role in educating parents and caregivers about the correct installation and use of car seats. These technicians also conducted thorough inspections of car seats for expiration dates, manufacturer recalls, and proper fit. In cases where it was deemed necessary, families received a complimentary replacement car seat.
Renee Zarr, the injury prevention coordinator at the Children's Hospital of Michigan, stressed the critical role that proper car seat usage plays in preventing injuries and fatalities among children. Zarr expressed gratitude towards Hyundai and the Children's Foundation for their support in disseminating vital information on child passenger safety to parents and caregivers.
