National Highways Authority Of India To Use Space Technology And UAVs
oi-Abijith Vilangil
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has informed that it will take help from ISRO and NECTAR to monitor and maintain the National Highways across the country.
NHAI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NECTAR and ISRO, to use the benefits of space technology and Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's).
ISRO will play a major role in the upcoming NHAI projects by providing Satellite data and space technology for monitoring construction progress, project execution, and maintenance and optimal management of the Highways.
The unmanned aerial vehicle technology will be useful in Road Asset Management, feasibility report and DPR preparation, immediate assessment, and remedy at remote locations. NHAI will also set up a 24x7 technical cell to provide specific information by collecting data from the project report consultants, engineers and road users.
