Nehru Gets Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 Ahead Of The 4-Year Waiting Period
While Toyota is yet to launch the globally-awaited Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 SUV, an Indian politician has already bought and registered the SUV in the country. This SUV had earlier grabbed the headlines in the automotive community as well.
This particular Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 belongs to a politician named K. N. Nehru and the vehicle according to the registration plate seems to be registered at Coimbatore West RTO. Though information according to this particular Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 SUV is limited, we expect that the SUV has been privately imported.
Speaking about K. N. Nehru, he is the Public Works Minister in the DMK-led Tamilnadu Government and earlier he was the Minister of Transport from 2006 to 2011 when DMK was in power. It was in his tenure as Minister of Transport, that the bus fleet in Tamilnadu was modernised significantly and more than 10,000 new buses were also added to the fleet.
More importantly, under K.N. Nehru, fuel efficiency was given significant priority and bus drivers were educated on managing fuel while driving. This alone saved a lot of money for the government and also helped reduce its carbon footprint.
According to sources, Mr Nehru's all previous cars were Land Cruisers and this shows his trust in the model and the brand. Moreover, it is also worth mentioning that the Minister also has a fondness for fancy numbers as his previous cars either adorned '9999' or '1234' as registration numbers.
Speaking about Toyota Land Cruiser, the model is world-renowned for its go-anywhere ability, reliability and comfort. Moreover, the latest generation built on these strengths.
Speaking about the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, Toyota had previously opened bookings for the Land Cruiser LC300 SUV in India, however, it was soon closed due to high demand for the SUV in the domestic and international markets.
Thanks to such high demand globally, the waiting period for Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 goes up to 4 years in some countries.
Though the new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is just a smidge larger than its predecessor, the latest model packs in a lot more electronics and safety aids. Moreover, thanks to its new GA-F platform, Toyota has managed to decrease the kerb weight and improve the weight distribution compared to its predecessor.
Toyota has also upgraded the powertrain options in the latest Land Cruiser. Unfortunately, the V8 engine options have been replaced by more efficient yet more powerful V6 engine options.
Starting with the diesel engine, the unit is now a 3.3-litre, turbocharged V6 diesel engine with 305bhp of peak power and 700Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 3.5-litre, turbocharged V6 petrol engine makes 409.32bhp of peak power and 650Nm of peak torque. Both the engine options come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.
In terms of features, the Toyota land Cruiser LC300 comes equipped with features such as a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, moonroof, heated steering wheel, wireless charging, heated and ventilated seats, 4-zone automatic climate control, multiple USB charging ports, 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, and many more.
As part of the generational update, the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 also comes with a Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This includes active safety systems such as Autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, pilot assist, drowsiness alert, rear cross-traffic alert and much more.
Thoughts About The Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 SUV
The demand for Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is very high and the willingness of customers to spend a lot of money for the SUV by privately importing the model alone signifies the trust in the model.
