Volkswagen T-Roc Deliveries Commence In India: Here Are All Details
Volkswagen India has started delivering the T-Roc SUV to customers in the country. The deliveries of the SUV were delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The T-Roc was launched back in March 2020 and retails at Rs 19.99 lakh, ex-showroom (India).
According to the images posted by customers on the Facebook group, it reveals the company to have started delivering the T-Roc SUV in India. We noticed two different customers who have already taken delivery of the SUV and posted images on the group.
Earlier there were reports of T-Roc deliveries getting delayed till August. The reason behind the delay was due to the company not receiving the ARAI certification. The certification required the manufacturer to complete certain kilometres of testing, which ere not completed due to the lockdown.
Speaking about the T-Roc itself, the premium SUV is 4,342mm long, 1,819mm wide and 1,573mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,590mm. Volkswagen is importing the T-Roc SUV as (CBUs) Completely Built Units by taking advantage of the new import rules in the country.
Indian import rules now dictate that companies can import 2,500 vehicles via the CKD and CBU channels per year, without the need for homologation. However, all vehicles imported into the country have to meet International Automotive Standards.
The T-Roc is available only with a single engine and transmission option. It comes powered by a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces a maximum of 148bhp at 5000rpm, and a peak torque of 240Nm at 1500rpm. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission unit. The company claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds and continue to reach a top speed of 205km/h.
Some of the highlighted features on the T-Roc SUV include LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, LED taillights, cornering lights and fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, faux skid plates and more.
It also features a 10.25-inch ‘virtual cockpit' digital instrument cluster, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and AppleCarPlay. It also gets leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and tyre pressure monitoring system; among others.
According to recent reports, Volkswagen also plans to locally assemble the T-Roc in the country. The company is expected to assemble the T-Roc at their Aurangabad facility. This will further reduce the price of the SUV by a substantial margin due to the lesser import tax attracted for (CKD) Completely Knock Down units.
