Volkswagen ID4 Showcased For The First Time In India
German carmaker Volkswagen has showcased the ID4 EV in India for the first time at its Annual Brand Conference 2024. The ID4 was unveiled alongside the new GT badged variants of the Taigun.
The Volkswagen ID4 is an all-electric crossover SUV that was first unveiled back in 2020. Volkswagen updated the ID4 late last year, bringing a host of updates to the powertrain and infotainment setups.

The Volkswagen ID4 is offered with three battery packs starting at 52kWh, rising to 58kWh and going all the way to 77kWh (all figures mentioned are usable figures) with ranges starting at 361km and going up to 534km on the WLTP testing cycle.
The base spec Pure variant of the ID4 is a rear-wheel-drive single motor version that pushes out 168bhp and 310Nm of peak torque allowing for a 0-100km/h time of 9 seconds and a top speed of 160km/h.

The standard version of the ID4 is once again a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor option pushing out 282bhp and 545Nm of peak torque. The ID4 Standard sprints from 0-60miles/h (0-96.5km/h) in around 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h.
The ID4 Pro is also a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor option that pushes out 201bhp and 679Nm of peak torque. This allows for a 0-60m/h (0-96.5km/h) sprint time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h.

The top-spec GTX version which had been spied in India last year is the most powerful of the lot, with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setip churning out 335bhp and 679Nm of peak torque. This allows for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h.
Speaking at the Annual Brand Conference 2024, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, "Our commitment to innovation and sustainability is not just about today; it's about shaping the future of mobility. As we embark on this journey, we are proud to showcase the ID.4 in India, ensuring a sustainable and thrilling driving experience for all."

Thoughts About The VW ID4
The VW ID4 is the German carmaker's rival to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 and it being showcased in India for the very first time does show that Volkswagen has gotten some interest regarding the electric crossover from its customer base. Whether or not it decides the interest is enough to bring the ID4 to India is anyone's guess but we certainly wouldn't say no to it.
