2025 BMW I4 And 4 Series Gran Coupe Boast Fresh Designs And Cutting-Edge Tech
BMW has unveiled significant updates to its BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe models, emphasizing enhancements in aesthetics, driving dynamics, electrification, and digital capabilities. Scheduled for a global launch in July 2024, these models will sport new exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels, and a refreshed design for both the headlights and rear lights, incorporating laser-lit accents to underscore their striking visual presence. The interior sees a comprehensive upgrade with the introduction of the BMW Curved Display alongside an updated BMW iDrive system featuring QuickSelect, aimed at providing a more advanced and user-friendly control interface. An optional Augmented View display for the BMW Maps navigation system is also on offer, alongside new steering wheel designs, interior trim elements, and upholstery options.
Both models will roll off the production line at BMW's Munich plant, which is currently undergoing transformation to become a facility dedicated exclusively to electric vehicle manufacturing. This move underscores BMW's commitment to electrification and sustainability.
The aesthetic refresh extends to the exterior design of both the BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe. Notable changes include a new look for the kidney grille, which now sports a matte chrome finish and is vertically arranged, alongside slimmer headlights. The design refresh is complemented by updated air intakes and exhaust tailpipes with larger diameters. New exterior paint options such as Cape York Green metallic and Vegas Red metallic have been introduced, together with new alloy wheel designs.
Interior enhancements are equally comprehensive, with new trim elements and upholstery options available. The introduction of a two-spoke steering wheel equipped with illuminated multifunction buttons adds a modern touch, while opting for the M Sport Package upgrades the steering wheel to a three-spoke M leather variant and includes additional M-specific design elements.
Under the hood, both models benefit from combustion engines integrated with 48V mild hybrid technology, enhancing power delivery and efficiency. The M440i Gran Coupe models are powered by a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine delivering 386 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 430i Gran Coupe models feature a 2-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with an output of 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The latest generation of BMW iDrive with QuickSelect simplifies vehicle function control, making it more intuitive for drivers. The BMW Maps navigation system has been updated to include charging-optimized route guidance. For an enhanced navigation experience, the optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes an Augmented View function. Connectivity is further improved with the introduction of the Personal eSIM that supports the 5G standard, allowing users to integrate their mobile contract features directly into the vehicle. Additionally, the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function facilitates contactless authentication at compatible public charging stations without the need for a physical charging card or app.
These updates aim to bolster the appeal, driving experience, and connectivity features of the BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe models, reinforcing their position in the premium midsize class.
