Royal Enfield 650 Twins’ Sales Figures Cross 1000-Unit Milestone
Royal Enfield 650 Twins: Sales of the Royal Enfield 650cc models cross 1000 units. The new Royal Enfield 650 motorcycles were launched in Nov ‘18.
Royal Enfield has sold 1000 units of its new 650 Twins: Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Both motorcycles were launched in November 2018 at a starting price of Rs 2.50 lakh and 2.64 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi), respectively. The Royal Enfield 650 Twins are the brand's first 'modern' parallel-twin motorcycle range.
Bookings for the 650cc Royal Enfield motorcycles are going strong and waiting periods are currently in the range of three months. However, in a recent update, it was confirmed that the waiting periods will drop significantly as the company is ramping up its production capacity.
The all-new Royal Enfield 650 Twins have already become the talk of the town, thanks to the excellent value for money they offer. They are the most affordable 650cc as well as twin-cylinder motorcycles currently sold in India, and do not have many shortcomings either.
Many owners of the 650 Twins have already done the first service and are very pleased with the cost incurred. As another first for twin-cylinder motorcycles, the first-service cost for the 650cc Royal Enfield models are considerably low — check out the full details here.
Powered by a 649cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 make 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission via a slipper clutch. The motorcycles are equipped with dual-channel ABS too.
Though powered by the same motor, the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 showcase two different characters. The Interceptor 650 (read the review) is more of a relaxed cruiser with the charm of a classic motorcycle in a modern avatar. To an extent, it can be considered as an affordable alternative to the iconic Triumph Bonneville.
On the other hand, the Continental GT 650 is a proper cafe racer motorcycle built for straight-line riding pleasure. Compared to the Interceptor, the GT 650's riding posture is a bit more agile and slightly less on the practicality side — check out our detailed review to know more.
Thoughts On The Royal Enfield 650 Twins' Sales Milestone
The new Royal Enfield 650 Twins have made a strong statement among the motorcycle community by proving that bigger-capacity motorcycles can offer excellent value for money.
