Top 5 7-Seater SUVs You Can Buy In India – Couldn’t Get Anymore Diverse
Here's a list of the top 5 7-seater SUVs you can buy in India without breaking your budget by a massive margin.
Looking at the below-listed SUVs, we can clearly see that manufacturers have relied on different approaches for achieving similar results and attracting customers with similar requirements.
Mahindra XUV700
The Mahindra XUV700 continues to be the best 7-seater SUV you can currently buy in the country. However, be advised, getting your hands on one can take some time as the waiting period stretches almost 2 years for some variants of the Mahinda XUV700 SUV.
That being said, the Mahindra XUV700 is packed to the brim with many features and it also comes equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Furthermore, the Mahindra XUV700 comes with a choice of three engine options. Starting with the petrol engine, the 2.0-litre, turbocharged engine produces 197bhp of peak power.
On the other hand, the more potent version of the 2.2-litre diesel engine pushes out 182 bhp of power, whereas the base diesel engine puts out a respectable 153bhp of power. It is also worth mentioning that all other variants except the base diesel engine come with a choice of either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The XUV700 can also be specified with an AWD system.
Mahindra Scorpio N
Like the Mahindra XUV700, the Mahindra Scorpio N also demands similar long waiting periods. Furthermore, the Scorpio N SUV comes with a similar feature list except for some advanced features such as ADAS. Also, dimensions-wise, the Mahindra Scorpio N is slightly bigger than the Mahindra XUV700.
The powertrain options remain similar to the ones offered in the XUV700 and the more powerful diesel engine produces 172.5bhp of peak power, whereas the base diesel engine produces just 130bhp of power. Apart from that, the 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine pushes out 200bhp of power.
Like the Mahindra XUV700, the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV can be specified with both manual and automatic transmissions. On top of that, the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV comes with a more robust 4WD setup as well. It is also worth mentioning that the base diesel engine model cannot be specified with an automatic transmission.
Tata Safari
Though the Tata Safari SUV is based on the five-seater Tata Harrier SUV, the seven-seater SUV looks substantially different from the Harrier SUV from the backside. In fact, the Tata Safari SUV is clearly one of the best-looking 7-seater SUVs you can currently buy in India.
Unlike its competitors, the Tata Safari SUV comes with just one engine option. The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine puts out 167.8bhp of peak power. Moreover, this engine can be specified to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is also worth mentioning that the Tata Safari is a FWD SUV and there is no AWD option.
One of the biggest USPs of the Tata Safari other than its looks is its riding comfort. The SUV is very well-known for its suspension compliance. Furthermore, the Tata Safari SUV comes with very good second-row seating and some variants can even get captain seats on the second row with seat ventilation function.
Hyundai Alcazar
Though Hyundai Alcazar SUV is based on the Hyundai Creta, engineers at Hyundai have put extra effort to make the SUV a bit more roomier by increasing the wheelbase to liberate extra space for the second-row passengers. Also, the headroom of the Hyundai Alcazar has also been increased compared to the Hyundai Creta.
The Hyundai Alcazar SUV comes with two engine options - One petrol engine and one diesel engine. The petrol unit in the Hyundai Alcazar SUV uses a 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol engine with 158bhp of peak power. On the other hand, the diesel powertrain is taken from the Hyundai Creta and this 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine produces 114bhp of peak power.
Moreover, like the Hyundai Creta, the Hyundai Alcazar SUV can also be specified with both automatic and manual transmission options. It is also worth mentioning that the Hyundai Alcazar SUV also offers a very good 2nd-row seating experience when equipped with the captain seats option.
MG Hector Plus
The MG Hector Plus is the 7-seater variant of the MG Hector SUV. Being based on the MG Hector, the MG Hector Plus is one of the most well-equipped SUVs in its segment with numerous standard features across the trim levels. Moreover, the MG Hector Plus SUV looks a bit more premium, especially from the front end.
The MG Hector Plus diesel variant is powered by a similar 167.72 bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine as the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier. However, unlike the Tata Safari or Tata Harrier, it comes with just a 6-speed manual transmission.
