India's Car Exports Surge In 2023-24: Maruti Suzuki Leads The Way
In the fiscal year 2023-24, Maruti Suzuki has emerged as the top exporter, shipping out an impressive 2,80,712 cars. This achievement not only underscores Maruti Suzuki's stronghold on the export market but also highlights its significant contribution to India's automotive export sector.
South Korean automaker, Hyundai, trails behind as the second-largest exporter with 1,63,155 cars, showcasing the competitive edge of these brands not just on home soil but also in international waters as well.
Interestingly, despite Tata Motors' strong sales within India, it does not feature among the top ten exporters, indicating a strategic focus on domestic markets. On the other hand, Kia Motors, Volkswagen, and Nissan have secured their spots in the top five.
Mahindra and Jeep, although making it to the top ten, have recorded the lowest export figures among their peers. This varied performance across brands provides a glimpse into the diverse strategies and market focuses of India's leading automotive players.
Maruti Suzuki's export figures are particularly noteworthy, with the brand exporting over 280,000 cars. This volume is equivalent to three out of every ten cars exported from India, surpassing even their domestic sales figures for two months.
Hyundai has also seen an uptick in its export numbers by 10,136 cars compared to the previous year. This growth reflects Hyundai's ongoing efforts to expand its global footprint and strengthen its position as a key player in international markets.
Kia's position as the third-largest exporter is commendable, especially considering it ranks fifth in domestic sales. However, it experienced a decrease in exports by 33,631 vehicles compared to last year. Volkswagen and Nissan have shown remarkable growth in exports, with Volkswagen making a significant leap from last year's figures.
Honda and Toyota occupy the sixth and seventh positions respectively in terms of export volumes. Their consistent performance is indicative of their solid reputation and demand in overseas markets. Renault, Mahindra, and Jeep round off the top ten list but with much lower figures compared to their counterparts.
