Bajaj Pulsar 400 Teaser Out – Launch Date & Other Details
Slated for launch on May 3, 2024, the Bajaj Pulsar 400 is anticipated to redefine city and highway rides without weighing heavily on buyers' wallets. Positioned to be more budget-friendly than the Dominar, the Pulsar 400 aims to be the most accessible 400cc motorcycle.
Also, the company recently unveiled the initial teaser of the Pulsar 400, offering a glimpse into its new design. Notable changes include a redesigned rear tyre hugger, presumably to fit a larger tyre, indicating a significant design evolution from the NS250.

The heart of the Pulsar 400 is its engine, which is likely to be shared with the Dominar 400. This 373cc single-cylinder DOHC engine in the Dominar 400 puts out 39.4bhp of peak power at 8,800rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist tech.
From a technical standpoint, the Pulsar 400 might share the perimeter chassis of the Pulsar NS200, known for its durability and ability to support larger engines. It's expected to come with enhancements to fit the new model's needs.
The bike will feature USD front forks, a monoshock rear suspension, disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS, and a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. Turn-by-turn navigation, all-LED lighting, and an underbelly exhaust could also be part of the package.
Bajaj has hinted at a competitive pricing strategy for the Pulsar 400. While achieving a sub-2 lakh price might be ambitious, an initial offer in this range can't be ruled out as the Bajaj Dominar 400's starting price stands at just Rs 2.31 lakh (ex-showroom).
DriveSpark Thinks
The Pulsar brand is evolving with the introduction of the 400cc model. Originally, when Bajaj planned its foray into the 400cc category, it opted to create the Dominar brand, as Pulsar was then synonymous with lower-capacity bikes.
Despite the high expectations, Dominar 400 did not dominate the sub-500cc motorcycle segment as anticipated. It's an open question whether the Pulsar 400 will capture a larger market share in this competitive segment.
The Pulsar 400 not only promises to deliver robust performance and advanced features but also aims to set a new standard in the affordable 400cc category. The Pulsar 400 could redefine the segment and attract a broader base of motorcycle enthusiasts in India.
