5 Things About Volvo XC40 Recharge: Design, Powertrain & More
Volvo is gearing up to launch the new XC40 Recharge in India and the upcoming model is an electric vehicle based on the Volvo XC40 SUV. So, here are five things you should know about the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
Apart from that, Volvo had also released a few details regarding the upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV on their official website.
Design
In terms of design, the Volvo XC40 Recharge looks very similar to the standard Volvo XC40 SUV with an almost identical silhouette and common design elements such as L-shaped taillamps, identical body lines, and Thor-hammer LED headlights.
However, the Volvo XC40 Recharge does have some unique elements to help the electric vehicle stand out such as the completely sealed front grille, a few 'Recharge' badges on the sides, a set of new 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a few more.
Powertrain
According to the leaked details from the official website, the upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge sports two electric motors, each electric motor powering the respective axles. This means the upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge is a proper all-wheel-drive SUV.
Since the Volvo XC40 Recharge is a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the electricity to power the Volvo XC40 Recharge is stored in the large 75kWh battery pack, and the above-mentioned two electric motors together produce 408bhp of peak power and 660Nm of peak torque.
Interior & Features
On the inside, the Volvo XC40 Recharge comes with two interior themes. The first interior theme uses Nappa leather and Nubuck textile with vinyl, whereas the second theme uses Charcoal leather for a very sporty appearance.
In terms of features, the Volvo XC40 Recharge is packed to the brim with advanced electronic aids and gets features such as a large 9-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, emergency braking assistance, electronic parking brake, 360-degree surround-view camera, multiple airbags, lane assist system and many more.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Volvo XC40 Recharge packs a solid punch and can put many sports cars to shame with a 0-100km/h coming up in just 4.9 seconds. However, the topspeed of the new Volvo XC40 Recharge is limited to just 180km/h.
Thanks to the large 75kWh battery pack, Volvo claims this powertrain could take the new Volvo XC40 Recharge over 418kms on a single charge and charge up to 80 per cent of the maximum battery capacity in just 40 minutes.
Price & Colours
The upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge is a CBU model and as a result, the electric SUV will be slightly more pricey than the standard variant of the Volvo XC40. Moreover, according to the leaked price, the upcoming Volvo XC40 is priced at Rs 75 lakh in India.
In addition to this, the upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge will come in 5 different exterior shades - Denim Blue, Crystal White, Fusion Red, Glacier Silver and Black Stone.
Thoughts About Volvo XC40 Recharge
The launch of the Volvo XC40 Recharge will trigger many premium Indian consumers to consider EVs as their next daily driver. In addition to that, the success of the Volvo XC40 Recharge will be a good boost for Volvo's sales performance in India.
