INMRC 2018 Round One: Race Results From Coimbatore

The season started off with a wet weekend greeting both the competitors and the manufacturers. The TVS Racing team included six-time national champion, Jagan Kumar, KY Ahamed and Deepak Ravikumar.

Group B – Super Sport 165cc Category:

KY Ahamed succeeded to fend off the national champion, Jagan Kumar in the first race and secure the top spot. Jagan Kumar (TVS Racing) and Manthana Kumar (Honda Ten10 Racing) took the second and third spots on the podium.

During the second race, KY Ahamed again looked focused and took the chequered flag. Second place went to TVS Racing's Deepak Ravikumar. However, Jagan Kumar did manage to set the fastest lap time. The national champion crossed the line in 1:11.596 seconds, setting a new lap record at the Kari Motor Speedway.

The third spot went again to Manthana Kumar from Honda Ten10 Racing.

Group B – Super Sport 165cc Category (Race 2)

Group C – Pro-Stock Open Category (Upto 165cc Open & 300cc - 400cc Open):

Anish Shetty from Honda Ten10 Racing took the top spot in both races. Second and third positions went to Kevin Kannan (Rockers Racing) and Mithun Kumar (Honda Ten10 Racing), respectively.

Group C – Pro-Stock 165cc Category (Race 2)

Race One of the 300 - 400cc Category

Anthony Peter from Vortex Racing took the top spot. The first race on Saturday, however, was reduced to seven laps after heavy rains red-flagged the event. Peddu Sriharsha (Sparks Racing) and Ananth Krishnan (Apex Racing Academy) completed the podium in second and third places, respectively.

Race Two in this class saw Gusto Racing taking the top two spots on the podium. Amarnath Menon took the first place, followed by Satyanarayana Raju. The third spot went to Anthony Peter of Vortex Racing.

TVS One-Make Championship 2018

The category had racers competing with the Apache RTR 200 4V and the first-ever RR310 Championship.

Race-Spec Apache RTR 200 4V

The race-spec Apache RTR 200 4V has a 197.75cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. It produces 24bhp at 9,300rpm. The motorcycle has a top speed of 145km/h.

The race-spec RTR 200 4V rides on 17-inch Pirelli tyres with hydraulic dampers. It features a slipper clutch, modified camshaft and race-tuned intake and exhaust systems. The race-spec RTR 200 4V also gets retuned front and rear shocks, carburettors and an optimised ignition system.

Race-Spec Apache RR310

The race-spec RR310 comes equipped with a race-tuned exhaust and an improved induction system. The RR310 also features a specially mapped Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and modified foot-pegs with race ergonomics.

The race-spec Apache RR310 is powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This is capable of producing 38bhp at 10,300rpm. The engine has an electronic fuel injection system with a 40mm throttle body. The motorcycle uses a Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) engine with Liquid-Cooled Oil Coolant (LCOC) technology. The race-spec RR310 tops out at 175km/h.

TVS – Novice Category: Race One saw Karthik Mateti take the top spot on the podium, followed by Mohammed Shafin and AS Alexander in second and third places, respectively.

TVS One-Make Championship – Novice

Race Two of the Novice category also saw Karthik Mateti hold the top position. Anand R came in second place, ahead of AS Alexander in third.

TVS – Ladies Category: In this category, Ryhanna Bee finished first. Ann Jennifer and RV Czimkay came in second and third, respectively.

TVS – Young Media Racers Program: In this category, DriveSpark correspondent, Stephen Neil came home in second place, while Gavin Rodrigues from Motorbeam secured the top spot. The third spot on the podium went to Shahnawaz Karim from Wheels Guru.

TVS – RR310 Championship:

The first race on the race-spec RR310 was held on Saturday. Bangalore rider, Yashas RL took the top spot, followed by Vivek Pillai (Chennai) and Peddu Sriharsha (Hyderabad).

The second race on Sunday, however, had Deepak Ravikumar take the top step of the podium, followed by S Sivanesan in second and Peddu Sriharsha in third.

Thoughts On Round One Of The INMRC 2018

Round One of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing 2018 had a great start to the season. Competitors and manufacturers raced in all sorts of weather conditions.

The second round of the INMRC 2018 will continue on 6th July at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Chennai.
