Spy Pics: Is This The Next-Generation Hyundai Santro?
2018 Hyundai Santro Spied Testing In India
The car which propelled Hyundai to become a household name in India, the humble Santro hatchback is making a comeback to the Indian market.
Hyundai stopped the production of the Santro back in 2015 to make way for next-generation cars despite the hatchback generating average sales of close to 3,000 units. But with Maruti Suzuki dominating the top 10 selling vehicles list, the South Korean carmaker has decided to bring back the Santro.
As per Rushlane, the 2018 Hyundai Santro was spotted testing on the Salem-Chennai highway near Attur. The new Santro is expected to take on the Maruti Alto, Renault Kwid, and the new Tata Tiago.

The all-new Hyundai Santro is expected to be better equipped and loaded with features. Hyundai has earmarked Rs 1,000 crore towards the research and developed of the Santro. We believe the 2018 Santro will be offered with either an 800cc or 1.0-litre petrol engines.
While Hyundai will launch the new Santro in 2018, the hatchback is expected to make its debut at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo to be held in February. The 2018 Hyundai Santro will be spacious, feature loaded and equipped with a frugal engine.

The Hyundai Santro went on to become one of the best-selling cars of the company and even broke into Maruti bastion in the entry-level hatchback segment. Now, we expect the 2018 Hyundai Santro to do the same.
That said, Hyundai has to offer the Santro with competitive pricing along with an AMT gearbox for the 800cc model, which none of its competitors can stake claimto, as the first company to offer the AMT gearbox on an 800cc powered hatchback in India.
