The BMW G 310 R design draws inspiration from the bigger BMW motorcycles. The BMW G 310 R is slender to look at from a distance but is chunky and muscular up close. There is absolutely no doubt that the BMW G 310 R feels premium in the way it is designed.
The design speaks volumes about the character of a motorcycle and the BMW G 310 R’s design states that it is a comfortable and sporty roadster. The body panels fit perfectly well and the little attention to detail makes a world of difference.
The colour options for the BMW G 310 R does make it look great, but it is the Pearl White paint scheme that impresses the most with the BMW Motorsport colours as graphics. The gleaming paint goes well with the gold-coloured upside-down forks up front. The BMW G 310 R features triangular, curved halogen headlamps up front and conventional indicators. It has LEDs only in the clear-lens tail-lamp.
The BMW G 310 R engine is driven a liquid-cooled, 313cc single-cylinder engine. A maximum power output of 33.6bhp at 9,000rpm and a peak torque output of 28Nm at 7,500rpm is produced by this engine. The BMW G 310 R accelerates from 0-60km/h in just 3.7 seconds and the motorcycle goes on to a top speed of 143km/h. A six-speed gearbox does transmission duties.
This is just enough power for a motorcycle in this segment and it puts the power down to the road in a nice way. This is the very engine that also does duty in TVS Apache RR 310 and runs the same state of tune as well. However, the character of the engine has been changed a bit by BMW to suit the G 310 R. There is a lack of low-end torque and this could be a downer for usage in traffic. However, this motor loves to redline and is very comfortable at high RPMs
BMW G 310 R mileage figures as expected are not very high. It boasts of an ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 30km/l. This figure is calculated in ideal conditions, but in real-world conditions, the figure drops down to around 26km/l for city-based usage. Out on the highways, it does go up to 30km/l.
The best feature of the BMW G 310 R are the brakes. It features a 300mm disc up front with a 4-piston radially-mounted caliper pressing against and the rear is braked by a 240mm disc with a single-piston floating caliper. The brakes on the BMW G 310 R simply are the best in its segment and bites really well. The feedback is great and the brakes are powerful as well.
The BMW G 310 R features a basic-looking digital instrument cluster that displays the range, current fuel efficiency, average speed, and other indications. It may look basic, but it does have a lot of features built into it.
The BMW G 310 R is built-well, it handles well, it rides well and is very stylish too. The Indian motorcycle market runs by the way a product is priced and sadly, it turns out that BMW Motorrad has priced the BMW G 310 R a little too high.
The brand itself does play a big role here and one can now purchase a BMW Motorrad motorcycle for as little as Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It the group of enthusiasts that are willing to put their money on the G 310 R.
