Top-selling SUVs in India for October 2019. The list of the top-10 best-selling SUVs in the Indian market has been released. The list of best-selling SUVs showcases the Kia Seltos dominate the segment to become the top-selling SUV in the country.
The Kia Seltos was launched in India in late-August this year. Since its launch, the Seltos has been received extremely well in the Indian market, bringing in consistent sales to the newly-introduced brand in the country.
The Kia Seltos in October 2019 registered sales of 12,854 units to overtake the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Venue to become the best-selling SUV in India.
The month-on-month consistency in sales of the Seltos has also allowed Kia Motors to become the fifth-largest carmaker in the market. Kia Motors overtook brands such as Toyota, Honda & Volkswagen to achieve this feat, with just one product — here are the details.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is positioned in second place. The popular compact-SUV offering from Maruti Suzuki registered 10,227 units of sales in the previous month. The Vitara Brezza has been a consistent seller for the brand in the SUV segment, often leading the charts as well.
Third on the list is the Hyundai Venue. The compact-SUV offering from the Korean carmaker performed well in the Indian market, initially. However, it has been steadily reducing sales in the last couple of months.
The Hyundai Venue also missed out on the top-10 best-selling car list in October, registering 8,576 units — here is the top-selling cars list for October 2019.
The Hyundai Venue is followed by its larger sibling, the Creta in fourth place. The Hyundai Creta registered 7,269 units of sales in the last month. Hyundai is currently said to be working on introducing the next-generation version of the popular SUV in the Indian market.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to launch in India at the upcoming Auto Expo, to be held in February next year.
Completing the top-5 SUVs list is the Mahindra Scorpio. The work-horse from Mahindra has been on sale in the Indian market for a long time and is one of the most popular offerings from the brand. The Mahindra Scorpio brings in volume sales month-on-month to the brand and in October recorded sales of 4,628 units.
|Rank||Model||Units Sold |
|2||Maruti Vitara Brezza||10,227|
Coming on to the bottom-five in the table, the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the MG Hector are positioned in the sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively. The Tata Nexon registered 4,438 units of sales while its rival the EcoSport recorded 4,326 units of sales. The MG Hector came in eighth with 3,536 units of sales last month.
MG Motor, however, has announced an increase in production starting this month, which means the sales could see a further improvement moving forward. The Hector currently has a waiting period of almost 4 to 5 months in India, which is said to decrease to a certain extent starting this month.
Talking about the Nexon and the EcoSport, both compact-SUVs have been in the market for quite a while now. The Tata Nexon consistently brings in volume sales for the brand in the Indian market.
However, compared to its rivals, the Nexon does feel a bit outdated. Tata Motors is now planning to update the compact-SUV soon, while also working on an electric version of the car for the Indian market.
The Ford EcoSport has also been in the Indian market for quite a while. It was actually one of the first compact-SUVs in the Indian market. Over the years, Ford has brought in a number of updates to the EcoSport, however, the overall design remains pretty much unchanged from the start.
The last two positions on the list are both occupied by Mahindra. This includes the XUV300 in ninth and its elder sibling, the XUV500 in tenth. The Mahindra XUV300 registered 3,046 units of sales while the XUV500 recorded 1,378 units of sales in the month of October 2019.
The Mahindra XUV300 is the latest product from the brand in the market. The Mahindra XUV300 offers a host of features, along with a strong performance; making it an extremely attractive offering in the compact-SUV segment.
Mahindra is currently working on bringing in the next-generation XUV500 in the Indian market. The new XUV500 is said to be based on a Ssangyong model, similar to their flagship Alturas G4 SUV. The new Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, along with a host of other new products as well.
