Maruti Dzire Prices Decrease After GST

Maruti Dzire receives a price reduction by up to Rs 4,063 due to GST.

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has slashed prices of its vehicles by 3 percent due to the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1, 2017, and most importantly, the company has passed on the benefits to its customers.

Maruti's important product, the new Dzire has received a price cut of up to Rs 4,000. The Maruti Dzire petrol model attracts 28 percent GST and one percent cess, while the diesel Dzire attracts 28 percent GST and 3 percent cess.

The additional cess is based on vehicle classification wherein cars under four-metre length powered by a petrol engine not greater than 1.2-litre or a diesel engine not greater than 1.5-litre by displacement come under this classification.

The new Maruti Dzire is available with a choice of petrol and diesel engine. The petrol model is powered by a 1.2-litre engine while the diesel model receives a 1.3-litre unit.

The former is tuned to produce 84bhp with 140Nm of torque, while the latter is tuned to develop 74bhp with 190Nm of torque. Both the powertrains come paired with either a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT unit.

The Maruti Dzire is one of the best-selling cars for the company and with the prices reduced, the demand for the subcompact sedan will increase.
