Mahindra XUV500 Petrol Unveiled In UAE; India Launch Soon

Mahindra has rvealed the petrol variant of the XUV500 in UAE.

We have already reported that Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the petrol variant of its flagship SUV the XUV500 in the Indian market.

Now, Mahindra has unveiled the new petrol variant of the XUV500 on the UAE website and it is expected to go on sale very soon. The petrol version of the SUV is priced at 74,900 Dirhams (approximately Rs 13.24 lakh).

The petrol version of the XUV500 draws power from a 2.2-litre turbocharged engine which uses the same block as its diesel counterpart. The power figures remain the same which stands at 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. The torque is reduced by 10Nm as compared to the diesel model.

The Mahindra XUV500 petrol is expected to come equipped with an automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive variant is likely to be offered as an option. Apart from the engine, there are no changes done to the SUV.

In the Indian market, the XUV500 is available with a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine churning out 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The India-spec petrol variant of the XUV500 will not feature any changes to the design, equipment and features. The only difference will be the new G codification instead of W in the variant name. Mahindra is expected to offer the petrol model in the middle and top-spec variant of the SUV.

Mahindra is slowly shifting towards petrol engines as the emission norms are becoming strict in several countries. Previously, Mahindra had developed a smaller capacity diesel engine to tackle the ban imposed in the National Capital Region (NCR). So, Mahindra could develop more variants of the petrol engines across its product portfolio.
