Bulleta Motors With Its RF22 Is The New Player From The U.S

By Ganesh

The boutique supercar industry is a risky one. You either do well or disappear from the map fairly soon. Gumpert being the latest one to wrap its business. But for every such company that dies there are a couple ready to take its place.

Lately, we have seen quite a few new players enter the lucrative and exciting party of performance car manufacturing. To a name a few, there is Lucra, Vuhl from Mexico and now Bulleta Motors from the U.S, which has the F22 Raptor fighter jet inspired RF22 on offer.

The RF22 is not a brand new car, but like its American counterpart, Venom GT (though a lot less powerful), its based on a Lotus platform, an Evora. Light and nimble Lotus platforms provide the perfect base for a car such as the RF22.

However, the body design work comes from none other than the talented Samir Sadikhov. You should take a look at his latest stunning work about which we wrote last week.

RF22 will be offered in two variants, both of which use the 3.5 liter V6 from the Evora. But a supercharger upgrade kit pushes power output from 400 HP to 505 HP and torque from 255 lb-ft to 410 lb-ft in the higher spec RF22-R variant.

A six speed manual transmission is the standard offer, but an automatic with paddle shifters is optional. The transmission drives the rear wheels of the mid-engined sports car. Claimed 0-100 km/h times are 4.1 sec and 3.8 sec respectively for the two variants.

While the chassis comes from the Evora, the body has been entirely developed by Bulleta. In its standard form the construction is Glass Reinforced Plastic (fiberglass), but a carbon fiber body will also be on offer. What matters most is that the material used makes this car about as light as a Lotus, at just 1,324 kg.

An interesting aspect are the wheels. Standard ones measure 19" in the front and 20" at the rear. However, Bulleta has developed extremely durable and light, optional all carbon fiber 19" wheel set. These are hardly ever used in production cars. The brakes are standard carbon ceramic.

While Bulleta RF22 is primarily a two-door coupe, a 2+2 seating configuration can be fitted, through the rear seats are likely to have place enough only for children.

Nothing is known about pricing. Neither do we know when Bulleta plans on launching the new cars nor how it plans to sell it. It is likely going be a limited edition and we can safely say it will cost more than any production Lotus.
