Tesla Model Y Paint Alone Costs More Than A Bullet Bike; Full Self Driving Costs More Than A Wagon R!
Tesla has launched the Model Y in India with an attractive starting price of just Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the price of optional extras have really shocked us and the internet as well.

The Tesla Model Y is available in 6 shades. While the Stealth Grey colour option does not add any additional cost, rest of the colours cost extra.
For starters, the Pearl White Multi-Coat, and the Diamond Black shades cost the Tesla Model Y customer an additional Rs 95,000. Whereas, the Glacier Blue shade demands Rs 1.25 lakh.
However, the most expensive colour options on the Tesla Model Y are the Quick Silver, and the Ultra Red. These two colour options cost Rs 1.85 lakh - Which is more than a new Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle!

Tesla Model Y Interior
The Tesla Model Y interior is dominated by simplicity. Customers can choose between a Black interior, and a Black & White interior. While the Black interior does not cost any extra, the Black & White interior demands an additonal Rs 95,000.
That said, though the Black & White interiors do make the Tesla Model Y more airy and spacious, these interiors can be difficult to maintain. As such, we strongly suggest Tesla Model Y customers to stick to the Black interior and save that Rs 95,000.

Tesla Model Y Full Self Driving pack
Tesla's hype partially rests on its "autonomous" driving ability. However, it looks like the Tesla Model Y customers have to shell out an additional Rs 6 lakh for the 'Full Self Driving' pack - making it more expensive than a new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.

The Tesla Model Y is available in 2 variants - RWD, and RWD Long Range. As mentioned, the Tesla Model Y prices start at Rs 59.89 lakh, whereas the long range model is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tesla Model Y Booking Details
Tesla India has already opened bookings for the Model Y in India and the booking amount is set at Rs 22,220. However, an additional 3 lakh has to be paid within 7 days of paying the booking amount. This unofficially lifts the booking amount to Rs 3,22,220.

So, if we spec a Tesla Model Y with the most expensive paint option, Black & White interior, and Full Self Driving pack, the model will cost a whooping Rs 8.80 lakh more than its standard form.
To put this price delta into perspective, the price difference between the standard spec and the fully kitted Tesla Model Y can fetch you a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV and some spare change to accessories the Brezza at Karol Bagh.
