Tesla Model Y price in India starts at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the RWD variant, whereas the RWD Long Range variant demands an ex-showroom price of Rs 67.89 lakh. As per Tesla's official website, the Tesla Model Y RWD variant costs Rs 61.07 lakh (on-road), and the top-spec RWD Long-Range iteration costs Rs 69.15 lakh (on-road).

This on-road pricing of the new Tesla Model Y includes the "Administration and Service Fee" of Rs 50,000, which incorporates an 18% GST, according to Tesla's official website.

That said, Tesla offers various customisation options that can alter the on-road price of the Model Y in India. For example, adding full-self driving (FSD) capabilities will require an additional payment of Rs 6 lakh. That said, we are not sure of the full legalities and limitations of this feature in India.

For comparison, the Tesla Model Y has a starting price of $44,990 in the United States, which is approximately Rs 38.63 lakh. In China, it costs around 263,500 yuan or Rs 31.57 lakh, while in Germany, it is priced at about 45,970 euros or Rs 46.09 lakh.

Battery and Performance Specifications

Since the Tesla Model Y RWD variant boasts an WLTP range of approximately 500km. Moreover, the model will pack in a single rear-mounted electric motor, capable of hitting 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds.

On the other hand, the Tesla Model Y RWD Long-Range variant is expected to pack in a bigger LNMC battery pack with an WLTP rated range of 622km. In terms of powertrain, the model is expected to feature a more powerful electric motor and and can reach 100km/h in just 5.6 seconds. That said, the top speed of both models are said to be capped at 201km/h.

Design and Features

The Model Y in India will come with seven exterior colour choices and two interior trim options. It will feature a front infotainment display measuring 15.4 inches and an additional rear screen measuring 8 inches. Additional features include power-adjustable front seats and steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control, fixed glass roof, power rear liftgate, and stylish 19-inch crossflow wheels.
