Official: Tata Nexon Class-Leading Features Revealed Ahead Of Launch In India
Tata Nexon features revealed ahead of its India launch. The compact SUV Nexon comes with segment-first features such as multi-drive mode and floating dash top HD infotainment display among others.
Tata Motors witnessed a turnaround in sales beginning with the Tiago hatchback, then came the Hexa crossover and later with the Tigor compact sedan.
Much of the credit goes to the company's IMPACT design philosophy. Now, Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Nexon in the compact SUV segment, which is currently led by Maruti Brezza.
For the first time, Tata Motors is venturing into the compact SUV segment with the Nexon. And not to be positioned as 'just another compact SUV', the homegrown automaker is offering first-in-segment features on the Nexon.
The company has already revealed the Tata Nexon engine specifications and now it has revealed the features of the compact SUV.
Here is the list of Tata Nexon Features:
Multi-Drive Modes:
A first-in-segment feature, the Multi-Drive Mode is a function which lets you choose the performance of the SUV for different driving conditions. You can switch between Eco, City and Sport which alters the response of the engine with a pre-set tune.
The Eco and City drive modes are tuned towards fuel efficiency, while the Sport mode will squeeze 260Nm of torque from the new 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine.
Floating Dash Top HD Touchscreen Infotainment Display:
The new Tata Nexon features the biggest change in interiors among other Tata vehicles. The new touchscreen and free standing display(Tata refers to it as 'Floating Dashtop HD Touchscreen), is again a first-in-segment feature.
The 6.5-inch floating display unit, much like some of the luxury cars, features standard connectivity like the USB or Bluetooth along with navigation on the top variant.
Harman Infotainment System With Android Auto & Apple CarPlay:
The Tata Nexon comes with the advanced Harman infotainment system enabled with a drive mode based HMI theme with an 8-speaker system.
The new Nexon will also support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (CarPlay to be offered soon) as standard on the top variant; the Nexon will be first Tata vehicle to receive the Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Android users are offerred with improved connectivity through USB which enables the user to access calling, messaging, navigation and voice assistance from the infotainment system. Additionally, the infotainment system comes with the capability to read text and Whatsapp messages as well as voice based reply commands.
Grand Central Console with Sliding Tambour Door Mechanism:
Inspired by high-end luxury cars, the Grand Central Console provides a premium and sporty feel to the interiors. The unique sliding tambour door mechanism allows easy storage space.
Tata Motors has started to roll out the Nexon from its Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. Powering the Tata Nexon will be a 1.2-litre three cylinder Revotron turbocharged petrol engine producing 108.5bhp and 170Nm of torque.
The diesel model is powered by a 1.5-litre four cylinder Revotorq engine developing 108.5bhp and 260Nm of torque. Both the engines will be paired to a new 6-speed manual gearbox.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The diesel Tata Nexon which produces 260Nm of torque is class leading in the segment. Maruti Brezza will have a tough fight when the Tata Nexon is launched in India.
