Tata Motors has announced that the first batch of the Nexon SUV has been produced and is ready to ship. The much-awaited Nexon SUV is built at the Indian auto giant's manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon, in Maharashtra.
The Nexon is the fourth car in the Tata's new generation passenger vehicles following the IMPACT design philosophy, and targets a new segment altogether. Claimed by Tata to be a Sporty SUV the Nexon features contemporary styling. The car will also offer smart connectivity and comfort alongside advanced safety features.
Customers can choose between a 1.2L Turbocharged Petrol engine from Tata's Revotron engine series and the 1.5L Diesel engine from the Revotorq family. Both engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. An automatic gearbox will not be made available at initial stages, but going by the market dynamics, an automatic gearbox driven variant seems inevitable at a later stage.
The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine is said to generate 108bhp and 170Nm, while the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine puts out 108bhp and 260Nm. The engines have been developed with inputs from global auto suppliers like Bosch, Honeywell, AVL and Mahale.
Tata Motors will soon dispatch the cars to dealerships across the country in a phased manner and customers will soon be able to get a feel of the Nexon SUV. The Tata Nexon is set for a festive season launch, but a few select Tata dealerships have already started accepting booking for the upcoming SUV.
The Nexon has been one of the most awaited products from the Tata stable and has retained attention from enthusiasts and prospective customers ever since it was first showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. Now that the first batch of Nexons has been produced, prospective customers can get a look and feel of the SUV at a dealership before booking their car.
