Mercedes-AMG's New GT4 Car Is Exactly What A Racecar Should Look Like
The AMG GT4 racecar is another important step in the expansion of our Mercedes-AMG motorsport program.
Last year, the GT4 class became one of the hottest races in motorsport, thanks to the new McLaren, Porsche, Ford, and soon, BMW GT4 cars.
In 2017, Mercedes-AMG will enter the segment with their GT4 car, a racer based on the 550 bhp track-spec AMG GT R.

The company made the announcement during the end-of-season awards dinner held in Stuttgart, with the timeline for the car's international debut a mystery.
"The development of the AMG GT4 racecar is another important step in the expansion of our Mercedes-AMG motorsport program," said AMG's Chairman, Tobias Moers.

The Mercedes' GT4 car will be based on the new AMG GT R, which comes with a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that can produce 550 bhp.
Mercedes-AMG now joins the club with BMW and Ford in having confirmed GT4 programs.
