Lotus E22 2014 Formula 1 Car Revealed
As the official test session for the 2014 Formula 1 world championship nears teams are revealing their new grand prix cars in tandem. After Force India, Williams and McLaren it is now the new Lotus E22 that has broken cover.
The strange take on the nose continues with the Lotus E22, which has a split front end design, that could turn out to be more controversial than the awkward round nose of the McLaren MP4-29.
Once again, the nose design of Lotus E22 is the result of the new regulations which mandates a front wing that's narrower by 150 mm compared to previous year. Lotus E22 is driven by a turbocharged 1.6 liter V6 that's sourced from Renault.

Driving the Lotus E22 this season will be current driver Romain Grosjean and the newly appointed Pastor Maldonado. The inclusion of Maldonado has also brought in a new sponsor for the Lotus team - Venezuelan state owned oil company PDVSA. Apart from the addition of the new name to the livery the Lotus E22 continues to wear the same black and gold body colour.

Unlike the previous teams which have revealed their cars, Lotus will not be fielding the E22 during the Jan 28 official test session in Jerez, Spain. Instead, the E22 will be first seen during the Bahrain test session that starts during mid-Feb
In related news, just before the reveal of the Lotus E22, their team principal Eric Boullier stepped down from his position. His place has been taken by co-chairman Gérard Lopez. Rumour has it that Boullier will move to McLaren where he could take the job of the Woking team's current team principal Martin Whitmarsh.
