Mercedes-Benz has gained access to Pebble application programming interface (API) which will allow them to develop a link between the car and the watch. Some of the features the Pebble smartwatch will provide the wearer with once paired with the car are as follows:
- Fuel level indication
- Door lock status
- Vehicle location
- Real time accident/hazard alerts
- Real time traffic condition alert
- Real time vehicle diagnostics
- Activation of auto-routing
- Siri activation
- Act as remote media controller and more

Basically, the Mercedes-Benz Pebble smartwatch will display the same set of notifications that the automaker's existing smartphone app does. The only benefit the smartwatch brings with it is easy of access. Those few times when your phone might be at the back seat or inside the pocket while you're driving, the smartwatch on your wrist could come in handy, But apart from that we don't see how a connected smartwatch is a huge improvement over existing smartphone apps.

Besides, the fact remains that Mercedes-Benz Pebble smartwatch will most likely be limited to Apple iPhones. Nevertheless, there's no harm in having a little more convenience.
We'll get you more details about the the Mercedes-Benz Pebble smartwatch once it's showcased at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, starting January 6.
