Nissan Nismo Watch Concept Is The One To Look Out For

Get over Samsung Galaxy Gear. Nissan Nismo Watch is the one you need look out for in the future. Wait! Nissan and smartwatches? You will be less surprised when you read that, unlike other smartwatches, these are exclusive companion watches for Nissan's Nismo branded cars.

Ferrari and Bugatti come out with ultra expensive bespoke luxury companion watches for owners of their supercars. The smartwatch developed by Nissan's performance division, Nismo on the other hand has does more than tell time. It communicates with the car and displays important vehicle related data in real time. At the same time, the watch, sitting on your wrist, collects real time data from your body.

Furthermore, the Nismo concept watch, using a specially developed Nissan Social Speed smartphone app, checks the driver's social media presence.

Following are the important capabilities of Nissan Nismo watch:

Monitor the efficiency of their vehicle with average speed and fuel consumption readings;
Access vehicle telematics and performance data while on track;
Capture biometric data via a heart rate monitor;
Connect to the car using a smartphone app via Bluetooth Low Energy;
Receive tailored car messages from Nissan

Nissan understands the potential its concept watch idea holds and in the future, plans to extend its usefulness by adding the following features.

ECG (Electrocardiogram) - to measure the intervals of the R-R rhythm of the heart, and identify early fatigue;
EEG (Electroencephalogram) Brainwave - to monitor the drivers' levels of concentration and emotions, and help athletes to get 'In The Zone';
Skin Temperature - to record core body temperature and hydration levels.

The watch will be available in black, white and the flagship black and red colours. The design is seemless and minimalistic and can be secured with snap-fit mechanism.

The Nismo concept watch can record and display real time vehicle telematics. It works by communicating with the car via a smartphone app.

The watch also checks up on the driver by the way of displaying real time biometric data. This can go a long way in improving driver safety.

Nissan Nismo Watch is sadly just a concept at present. Nissan has not said when it plans to start producing the watch, but from their tone it seems they will.
