The new Datsun Go is a budget MPV and in its new avatar, the Go looks upmarket and premium. The front end of the Go Plus features a newly designed grille with chrome surrounding, sweptback headlamps and a redesigned bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights.
The side profile of the Datsun Go remains unchanged except for the newly designed diamond-cut alloy wheels on the top-spec model. The rear section of the new Datsun Go Plus comes with a revamped bumper and a chrome bar on the tailgate. The tail light cluster remains identical to the outgoing model.
The interior of the new Datsun Go features a dual-tone treatment with a combination of black and cream colour. The dashboard also gets silver accents around the centre console, gear lever and on the steering wheel. Overall, the interior looks premium but the build quality is average.
The Datsun Go draws power from a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 68bhp at 5,000rpm and 104Nm torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Datsun Go is designed to be a fuel-efficient MPV and the overall performance of the engine is decent, but not that great. The engine is not too responsive for the throttle inputs and there is no surge of power the moment you pin the throttle. But the overall ride quality is decent for a budget MPV.
The Datsun Go delivers a claimed mileage of 19km/l but in real-world conditions, the MPV will return an average mileage of around 15km/l. The mileage may also vary depending on the driving conditions.
The new Datsun Go comes loaded with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Google Map Navigation, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows, follow-me-home headlamps, MID (Multi Information Display) on the instrument cluster and power outlet at the front.
The standard safety features of the new Datsun Go Plus include dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, central locking, reverse parking sensors and engine immobiliser. The top-spec model also gets keyless entry.
The Datsun Go is a budget MPV but now it comes with an upmarket and premium design. The interior also looks premium and gets few additional features. The Datsun Go is a value for money product when it comes to MPVs. If you are on a budget and looking for an MPV, then the Datsun Go will do the job for you.
No, the Datsun Go is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The third-row seats are suitable for kids and it will be uncomfortable for adults, especially on long drives.
