Dakar 2017: CS Santosh And Stage 8 Updates
The eighth stage of the 2017 Dakar Rally has concluded and CS Santosh finished the stage in 47th position. Due to bad weather the stage was shortened by 68km.
The eighth day of the 2017 Dakar Rally saw the riders and drivers cross the Bolivian border and entered Argentina for the business end of the rally. The stage eight Uyuni „- Salta was an 892km test with 492km of timed section. But the special stage was cut short by 68km due to bad weather.
Hero Motorsports Team Rally rider CS Santosh had a good day at the office and finished the stage in 47th position. He also improved his overall ranking and is in 63rd position.
Santosh's teammate Joaquim Rodrigues had an impressive day behind the handlebar of his 450 Rally Hero Speedbrain motorcycle. He finished the stage in 16th position and is in 10th position in the overall standings.
Honda rider Joan Barreda Bort won the eighth stage but he is still adrift of the leading pack because of the penalty. The rally leader Sam Sunderland improved his advantage and he is 20 minutes clear of Pablo Quintanilla.
In the quads category, Ignacio Casale was the quickest rider in stage eight. Russian rider Sergey Karyakin holds the overall rally lead ahead of French rider Axel Dutrie.
In the cars category, Sebastien Loeb was back in the rhythm and crossed the finish line with the quickest time to win the stage eight. Loeb also holds the overall lead ahead of his teammates Stephane Peterhansel and Cyril Despres.
In the trucks category, stage eight victory went to Martin Van Den Brink, Daniel Kozlovsky and Marcel Blankestijn in their Renault truck. Russian driver Dmitry Sotnikov is the overall rally leader in his Kamaz truck.
