Vinales Puts Suzuki Back Onto Winning Ways; Rossi Cuts Down Marquez’s Lead
Maverick Vinales provided Ecstar Suzuki a MotoGP win after almost nine years. The last time a Suzuki rider stood on top step of the podium was back in 2007. This was Vinales' first MotoGP victory since he joined the premier class back in the 2015 season.
The 2016 British GP was initially red flagged due to a collision on the very first lap. Riders involved were Monster Tech3 Yamaha's Pol Espargaro and Avintia Ducati's Loris Baz. Luckily, both riders did not suffer any major injuries or broken bones.
On the restart, Maverick Vinales rode fantastically from start to finish. The Suzuki in cold British weather seemed unbeatable. Home hero, Cal Crutchlow fought valiantly with Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi for another second place podium finish at Silverstone.
Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez engaged in a tightrope battle once again. Both riders kept almost touching and pushing the other off track. It seemed somewhat similar to what happened between the duo at 2015 Sepang GP, Marquez won this battle, however, Rossi won the war.
Marquez overtook Rossi, however, the overzealous Spaniard tried pushing for second place. This caused him to make an error and dropped him once again behind Rossi. Valentino Rossi has cut down Marquez's lead to 50 points, the task to win 2016 Championship is yet monumental.
Only six races remain in the 2016 MotoGP Championship. Next race will be held in Misano on September 11, 2016. Yamaha machinery performs well around the Misano circuit, however, Suzuki cannot be ruled out. Stay tuned to know how the 2016 MotoGP Championship pans out.
