2016 Intermot Motorcycle Show: Ducati 939 SuperSport And SuperSport S Unveiled
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the all new 939 SuperSport & 939 SuperSport S at the 2016 Intermot Motorcycle Show In Cologne, Germany.
The new 939 Supersport is powered by a 939cc, 11-degree L-twin Testastretta engine borrowed from the Hypermotard 939.
The engine produces 111bhp @ 9,000bhp and 96.7Nm of torque @ 6,500rpm, with 80 percent of the torque available @ 3,000rpm.
The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox which is equipped with a quickshifter. There are three riding modes available: Sport, Touring, and Urban.
Partly hidden by the fairing but still visible is Ducati's trellis frame chassis which uses the engine as a stressed member.
The SuperSport has adjustable suspension and an aluminum swingarm.
Up front we find 43mm Marzocchi upside-down forks with fully adjustable spring preload and hydraulics, at the rear with a Sachs monoshock which is also fully adjustable.
On the SuperSport S, the shocks are upgraded to a 48mm Ohlins USD forks while there is a monoshock also from Ohlins at the rear.
The new Supersport weighs in at 185 kilograms(dry) and 210 kilograms(wet) and has a 16-litre fuel tank.
Braking duties are handled by two 320mm disc up front while at the rear there is a single 245mm disc brake.
The new SuperSport sits on 17-inch alloy wheels that are shod with a Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 120/70 ZR 17 tyre up front and 180/55 ZR 17 tyre at the rear.
Design wise the new 939 Supersport sees rather angular headlamps. The pointy shape of the headlamps is due to the presence of the LED Daytime Running Lights and indicators. The front windscreen is fully adjustable.
The new Ducati sports bike features a full fairing which covers up most of the front of the new motorcycle.
The seat of the new Ducati sits 810mm above the ground and can be adjusted by 20mm with the help of optional seats.
On the right side of the bike sprout out the two shotgun exhausts from the L-twin engine which lets the new Ducati express its anger at the world.
The 939 Supersport is available only in Red while the 939 SuperSport S is available in both white and red.
