Tata Tiago AMT Interior Spied Again
Tata Tiago automatic manual transmission (AMT) is developed by Magneti Marelli and is a 5-speed unit which also sends the power to the Zest and Nano cars.
The Tata Tiago Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) interior has been spied again revealing the gear shifter developed by Magneti Marelli. The AMT of the Tiago is a 5-speed unit which sends the power to the front wheels.
In most probable, the AMT will be featured in the petrol model of the Tiago before making it to the diesel version. Also, the Tiago's XT and XM variants will be equipped with the AMT gearbox, it is unclear if the top of the line XZ variant.
Once launched the Tiago AMT will compete with Maruti Celerio AMT, Hyundai Grand i10 AT or even the Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT. The mileage of the Tiago AMT is expected to be similar to the petrol manual gearbox variant, which returns 23.84km/l.
The Magneti Marelli built AMT gearbox for the Tiago does the duty in the Zest and the Nano models of Tata Motors. This will also make its way to the upcoming Kite 5 subcompact sedan.
In the subcompact sedan segment, the Maruti DZire, Volkswagen Ameo and the Tata Zest diesel versions are equipped with the automatic gearbox. This could well mean, the Tiago and Kite 5 diesel version will come with the AMT in the future.
The Tiago hatchback has been successful in sales for Tata Motors and the AMT variant will further add to the various choices customer can choose from.
Tata Motors has powered the Tiago with the option of either the petrol or the diesel units. While the petrol unit is a 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder engine producing 84bhp and 114Nm of torque, the diesel unit is a 1.05-litre Revotorq three-cylinder engine developing 69bhp and 140Nm of torque.
The price of the Tata Tiago starts from Rs 3.24 lakh to Rs 5.40 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The AMT version of the Tiago is expected to launch in March 2017.
