Bookings for the new Jeep Compass have officially begun, and one can do so by paying Rs 50,000. The new Jeep Compass is likely to be launched in India this August.
The Jeep Compass will be the US carmaker's entry-level offering, and the SUV has already been launched in Europe.
The Jeep Compass, being a compact SUV, will have seating capacity for five passengers including the driver, and will be sold in both, petrol and diesel trims.
The Jeep's petrol engine will be a 1.4-litre turbocharged motor that will produce 160bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the diesel option will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine churning out 170bhp and 350Nm of torque.
When launched, the Jeep Compass will be offered with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol variant of the Compass will have an optional dual clutch transmission.
Jeep will sell the Compass in India with a two-wheel-drive and a four-wheel-drive layout to keep prices under check. Jeep is estimated to price the Compass in the Rs 18 to 25 lakh budget, which will help the carmaker have an advantage over its competitors.
