2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Production Begins – Spied Undisguised
Maruti Suzuki has commenced the production of the 2017 Dzire subcompact sedan. Read to know all the details of the new-gen Dzire.
India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has commenced the production of the new-generation Dzire subcompact sedan ahead of its Indian market debut.
GaadiWaadi has reported that Maruti Suzuki could drop the Swift badge from the subcompact sedan to give the car a unique identity within the product portfolio of the company. The new Dzire is expected to costlier by Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 compared to the currently sold model.
The design cues of the 2017 Dzire stands in line with the third-generation Swift hatchback. The front fascia of the car features aggressive and sleeker stance. The front bumper gets large air intakes, and fog lamp surrounds are sporty.
The top-of-the-range variant of the new Dzire will sport the newly designed hexagonal grille with the chrome finish, and the other design elements also receive the upmarket treatment.
The side profile of the 2017 Dzire is influenced by the Baleno with curvy A-pillar and sloped roofline. The rear section of the car will remain same as the current model with minor tweaks.
The 2017 Dzire will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDiS oil burner. The petrol motor produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The diesel engine churns out 74bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT transmission.
The 2017 Dzire is based on the Baleno's platform, and the kerb weight is expected to go down which will result in improved handling. The interior will also get its share of updates with added safety features.
