Volkswagen Ameo Production Begins Prior To Imminent Launch
Volkswagen India rolled out the Ameo from its Chakan facility in Pune. The compact sedan is currently touring India in an attempt to garner more pre-bookings. The German-based automobile manufacturer is anticipating huge orders and does not want to keep customers waiting.
The manufacturer is also building up its inventory prior to launch. Volkswagen has invested over Rs. 720 crores into the production of its Ameo. The compact sedan has been designed and engineered keeping in mind the needs and demands of Indian customers.
The very first Volkswagen Ameo to roll out of Chakan facility was a 1.2-litre three-cylinder, MPI petrol engine. The compact sedan was in Blue Silk colour option. Volkswagen India will also be offering an optional 1.5-litre four-cylinder TDI diesel engine.
In terms of safety, the Ameo compact sedan will be equipped with dual airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant. Volkswagen India will equip the compact sedan with features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers, and static cornering lights.
Once launched, the Ameo by Volkswagen will compete within the compact sedan segment. In India, the Ameo will have to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, and Honda Amaze. We expect VW to price the compact sedan aggressively.
