Bookings Commence For Renault Kwid AMT — Launch Imminent?
Renault dealerships have started taking bookings for the upcoming AMT variant of the Kwid.
The AMT variant of Renault India's best selling car, the Kwid, is set to launch later this month bringing the ease of automatic gearboxes to its entry level segement cutomers.
Dealers for the French carmakers have already started accepting booking for the Kwid Easy-R variant which will utilize the same 5-speed AMT gearbox found on the duster AMT.
According to CarandBike, dealers are accepting Rs. 10,000 deposits for the hatchback withofficial set to commence tonight.
The Easy-R gearbox will be available with Renault's larger 999cc petrol engine found on the Kwid 1.0-litre. The engine produces 67bhp and 91Nm of torque.
The Easy-R AMT gearbox on the Kwid will not be the same as the one found on the Duster SUV in two different ways - the shape and the gear shifting options.
Unlike the gearbox lever on the Duster which looks quite conventional, the Easy-R gearbox on the Kwid will be available in the form of a dial which will be placed on the dashboard of the hatchback.
The shape of the gearbox also ensure that Kwid owners wishing to shift gears on their own will have not have their wishes fulfilled as the AMT Kwid will always remain in automatic mode thanks to the dial.
The new Kwid 1.0-litre Easy-R will go up against the Alto K10 with Auto Gear Shift, which is Maruti Suzuki's take on the AMT transmission.
