The New Camaro ZL1 Can Hit 100km/h In First Gear
Chevrolet has confirmed that its new Camaro ZL1 can do nought to 100kmh in under 3.5 seconds, but did you know it could do it in the first gear itself?
The news comes from Al Oppenheiser, Lead engineer, GM, who was speaking at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Camaro announced that the car can hit 100kmh in first gear when mated to the six-speed manual gearbox.
Earlier, Chevrolet had unveiled its new 10-speed automatic, which will be offered on the ZL1 as an option, shifts faster than Porsche's famous PDK dual-clutch transmission.
Chevrolet said the 10-speed gearbox's overall gear ratio enhances the performance with an aggressive first gear ratio.
Powered by a 6.2-litre, supercharged, V8 engine, the 2017 Camaro ZL1 pushes out 650bhp. The company also claims a quarter-mile time of 11.4 seconds at 127 mph.
