Spy Pics: India Bound 2017 Ssangyong Rexton Spotted Testing
Mahindra's South Korean subsidiary Ssangyong is hard at work as it tests its all-new Rexton SUV ahead of its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
Spotted testing for the very first time, the Rexton test mule was clad with some rather heavy camouflage to hide its totally redesigned looks.
However, despite Ssangyong's best efforts, a few details about the new SUV are still quite visible.
The front bumper seems quite chunky and the wheel arches look quite beefed up as well. The overall shape of the car reminds you of the LIV1 concept seen at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show.
Underneath the fancy body panels and the camo, the new SUV features a brand new ladder-frame chassis that can accommodate both front and all-wheel drive systems.
The Rexton is expected to be revealed with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel engine is expected to be the same 2.2-litre diesel seen on the current Rexton which will be paired with same 7-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes-Benz.
The petrol engine on the new Rexton will be the new turbocharged 2.0-litre GDi engine. The new engine will be mated with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox, once again sourced from Mercedes.
