Toyota India To Concentrate On Safety, Not Sales Going Forward
Japanese automobile giant, Toyota has a wide range of products on offer in India. They have witnessed success with a couple of their automobile. Their most popular offering till date in India has to be their Qualis, which is followed by their Innova MPV.
Toyota India now has decided to make a strategic change in their game plan. The Japanese manufacturer is going to concentrate on safety of the passenger and will not focus all that much on sales and numbers.
From January, 2015 onwards itself Toyota India has begun providing airbags as standards safety equipment in all of their vehicles. The Indian Government plans to make it compulsory for all manufacturers to offer at least airbags in their vehicles. This, however, could take a while to be implemented and Toyota wants to take a head start in this movement.
The manufacturer will be repositioning all their products to showcase that they are focusing on safety. Toyota recently launched updated versions of their Etios Liva and Etios. They had launched these products to boost their sales, however, now they will change their strategy with these products.
Toyota currently offers eleven different vehicles in India. These include the Etios Liva, Etios Cross, Etios, Corolla Altis, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, Innova, Fortuner, LC Prado and LC 200 models. They plan to introduce new and refreshed models soon.
The most anticipated product launch by the Japanese manufacturer is their next generation Innova. Toyota is expected to showcase their 2016 Innova at the Auto Expo next year, which will be held in Delhi.
