Ford EcoSport Waiting Period Increased; Price Cut Info
Ford EcoSport has been in demand ever since its launch. The compact SUV has dominated the segment significantly. However, extensive booking has delayed the car, due to low supply.
Ford produces the EcoSport in its chennai plant, catering to both national as well as international markets. As of now the plant runs two shifts however, are contemplating adding another shift to curb the demand supply ratio.

The two shifts produce 350 EcoSport each however, adding a third shift would bump up production. The issue though is procurement of metal parts, which isn't available as of now.
On the other hand Ford India hasn't announced any cut in price after the Interim Budget of 2014-2015. Most of the automobile manufacturers have announced reduction in prices.
Ford's compact SUV is under 4 meters, thus excise duties are slashed from 12% to 8%, according to the budget. Which translates to a Rs. 30,000 cutdown.
Whether Ford will pass this benefit to its customers or not, is not clear. The reduction in excise duty is applicable upto 20th June, 2014.
If these revised tax reductions continue beyond 20th June, 2014. Ford will then be compelled to reduce prices of their cars. The EcoSport will then come with an even attractive price tag.
Ford however, has stopped bookings for certain variants of EcoSport. So far they have recorded 60,000 orders from India alone for the compact SUV.
