Maruti Suzuki To Recall 4 Models Over Faulty Steering
Maruti Suzuki has said it will recall 4 models from its vehicle lineup. However, the recall seems to be a minor one in terms of numbers. Maruti, which sells millions of vehicles in any given year will recall just 1492 units.
The reason for the recall is the possibility of a defective steering column. Maruti has not said what the exact problem with the steering column is. Only that all cars with defective steering column will have the parts replaced.
The Maruti vehicles which are affected by this recall are Ertiga MPV, Swift hatchback, DZire compact sedan and A-Star, a model that's already been discontinued. The defective vehicles were built between October 19 and October 26, 2013

"If the steering column is found defective, the company will replace the steering column free of cost," Maruti said in a statement.
The recall is limited to vehicles within the specified range and does not pertain to any other vehicle of the company or any of its exports, Maruti said.
New steering columns have been dispatched to service centers across the country and the faulty ones will be replaced at no extra cost.
