2013 Tata Indigo eCS Details Revealed
Tata Indigo eCS, a compact sedan, has not been doing too well ever since the advent of the Swift DZire and more recently, Honda Amaze. With the updates introduced in the 2013 Indigo eCS, Tata Motors hopes to gain some lost ground.
Exterior
The
new
Tata
Indigo
eCS
is
more
than
just
a
facelift,
since
it
gains
some
mechanicals
changes
as
well.
But
lets
start
with
the
visual
upgrades.
On
the
front,
the
Indigo
sports
slightly
restyled
blacked
out
headlamps,
which
Tata
feels,
gives
the
car
a
meaner
look.
To
the
rear,
an
elongated
chrome
garnish
has
appeared,
which
does
not
necessarily
make
the
car
look
any
better,
but
is
a
change
never-the-less.
Lastly,
the
new
Indigo
eCS
sports
new
14
inch
alloy
wheels.
Interior
Changes
on
the
interior
are
more
visible,
since
the
center
console's
faux
wooden
finish
has
been
replaced
by
silver
coloured
plastic.
The
dashboard,
on
the
other
hand,
is
done
in
ebony
black.
According
to
Tata,
the
four
spoke
steering
wheel
is
also
supposed
to
be
new,
which
by
the
way,
does
not
come
with
integrated
buttons.
a
slightly
restyled
instrument
cluster,
a
new
music
system,
beige
fabric
seats
and
rear
center
armrest
complete
the
interior
updates.
With
the
use
of
‘Anti
acoustic
chamber'
also
expect
the
interior
to
have
better
sound
proofing.
Functional
changes
The
more
serious
changes,
however,
are
unseen.
This
starts
with
a
new
5
speed
manual
F-Shift
transmission
which
is
said
to
make
gear
shifts
smoother.
The
new
gearbox
is
also
supposed
to
bring
down
maintenance
costs
due
to
absence
of
‘mechanical
linkages'.
Another
welcome
change
comes
in
the
form
of
Duo
Float
suspensions,
which
promises
a
more
comfortable
ride.
The
engines,
meanwhile,
remain
same.
The
engine
lineup
consists
of
the
1.4
liter
TDI
diesel
(BS3),
the
1.4
liter
common
rail
turbo
diesel
(BS4)
and
the
1.2
liter
petrol.
