Hero Splendor Plus

The Hero Splendor has always been a favourite among the wider mass. Now sold as the Splendor Plus, the motorcycle has been on the market for almost 30 years now and at least someone in our knowledge would have had it at one point in time. The commuter motorcycle is available in a higher i3S format too, while there is a premium Super Splendor which is sold in a different segment.

Hero HF Deluxe

The Hero HF Deluxe is the second-most affordable motorcycle from the legendary Indian two-wheeler brand. It is also available in an ECO variant too, which features a rather unique paint scheme and mirror design. The i3S variant is the most premium among the lot and brings some extra features.

Bajaj CT 100

The Bajaj CT 100 showcases a basic styling theme with least importance to performance. It is a utilitarian motorcycle with some really high mileage figures. Features such as the SNS (Spring-In-Spring) suspension does give it a bit more appeal in front of its rivals, while still being a reliable commuter motorcycle.

Honda CB Shine

The Honda CB Shine is the best-selling motorcycle from the Japanese brand in India, while their best market-performer is the popular Activa 5G scooter. The Honda CB Shine boasts of a smooth and refined engine and the brand's CBS (Combi Brake System) unit. The HET (Honda Eco Technology) inputs further improvethe performance and fuel efficiency.

Bajaj Pulsar

The Bajaj Pulsar series is considered to be one of the first Indian performance motorcycles. Starting from the 150cc category (the Pulsar 135 was recently discontinued), Pulsar models evolve to 180cc, 220cc and top-of-the-line 200cc categories; above which sits the flagship Dominar 400. The Bajaj Pulsar was first introduced back in the early-2000s and its fan following has only grown bigger with time.

Hero Passion

The Hero Passion sits above the Splendor in the Indian brand's product portfolio. While still being a basic commuter for daily use, the Hero Passion brings a bit of sportiness to the table. The latest iteration of the Passion comes in three formats: Pro i3S, Pro 110 and XPRO. All these models have some essential basics (including a front disc brake) and feature a blacked-out theme.

Hero Glamour

The Hero Glamour competes in the highly-competitive 125cc motorcycle segment in India, and gets some more attention to styling. The latest Hero Glamour model also gets a semi-digital instrument console, LED tail lamp and the brand's i3S technology. Decent performance and high mileage figuresare two main reasons why it has seen a lot of success of the market.

Bajaj Platina

The Bajaj Platina is now sold in the ‘Comfortec' avatar — a technology promising a jerk-free ride, in comparison to a conventional commuter motorcycle. The Platina is very basic in terms of styling and looks identical to the Bajaj CT 100; except maybe for the alloy wheels. One thing at which the Bajaj Platina is widely popular is fuel efficiency. Many Platina owners claim that they have attained mileage figures above 80km/l.

Royal Enfield Classic 350

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 has a huge fan base in the country and it ‘was' one of the only classic-looking motorcycles on the market. The introduction of the arguably-better Jawa motorcycles might affect its sales in the coming months, but the Classic 350 will always be a big seller for the British-origin brand. With the new Royal Enfield 650cc twins also on sale, the brand expects even better sales performance.

TVS Apache

The TVS Apache series motorcycles are the direct rivals to the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar models. Marketed with the tagline, ‘Racing DNA Unleased', all Apache motorcycles have been given ample inputs from TVS Motor Company's racing division. The premium TVS Apache RR 310 shares a lot of BMW Motorrad components and has instantly become a favourite among young riders.

Verdict

The list of top selling bikes in India mainly includes budget-oriented commuter motorcycles. To many, owning a simple commuter bike makes much more sense, especially if the area has frequent traffic congestions. However, it is good to see that fun-to-ride motorcycles from TVS and Bajaj are also climbing up the list. What do you think?
