Nissan Magnite CNG Launch In April? All Details Here
The Nissan Magnite is set to receive a CNG version by April, available as a dealer-level accessory kit. This follows the Renault Kiger, which recently introduced a similar CNG option. The CNG kit will be compatible with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox, mirroring the setup in the Kiger.
It is expected that the Magnite's CNG variant will deliver an estimated fuel efficiency of 18-22 km per kg. However, specific details regarding power and torque outputs remain undisclosed. The CNG kit will come with a one-year dealer warranty, while the standard SUV warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km will still apply.
Nissan Magnite CNG: Expected Pricing & Warranty
The cost for the Renault Kiger's CNG kit is Rs 79,500 over its base trim. A similar price increase is anticipated for the Magnite's CNG version. Uno Minda Group will supply these kits to dealers. It is yet to be confirmed if this option will be available across all trims or limited to select ones.
In India, the demand for CNG vehicles is on the rise. Last year alone saw sales of 7,15,213 CNG-powered passenger vehicles from four major carmakers, reflecting a significant 35% growth compared to the previous year. Maruti Suzuki dominates this segment with a commanding 71.60% market share.
Growing Popularity Of CNG Vehicles
Tata Motors and Hyundai follow Maruti Suzuki in market share with 16.13% and 10.04%, respectively, while Toyota holds 2.21%. With increasing interest in CNG vehicles, Honda and Renault have also started offering dealer-level kits, and Nissan plans to join them soon.
The introduction of a CNG option for the Magnite could potentially boost its appeal among compact SUV buyers in India. As more manufacturers embrace this trend, it highlights a shift towards more economical and environmentally friendly vehicle options.
