Do Not Buy Mahindra Thar Yet: Facelift Model Coming Soon With Advanced Features Such As…
The 2nd-generation Mahindra Thar was launched almost 5 years ago, back in October 2020. Despite this, the model continues to thrive in the Indian SUV market, thanks to its unique market positioning, punchy powertrain options, off-road prowess, and timeless design.
Furthermore, Mahindra recently launched the 5-door version of the Thar SUV (Thar Roxx) in India with more advanced features. As such, the facelifted version of the Thar SUV is expected with much anticipation.
As part of the update, we expect the upcoming facelifted version of the Mahindra Thar SUV to come with revised front and rear designs, along with updated alloy wheels. On the inside, Thar facelift is expected to feature interior that is similar to the outgoing Thar Roxx, albeit with a darker interior.
In addition to this, we also expect the Thar facelift to come with features such as all-LED lighting, a 360-degree camera system, level-2 ADAS tech, TPMS, a bigger infotainment unit, and a fully digital instrument cluster.
That being said, the facelifted version of the Thar SUV will come with the same powertrain options as the outgoing model. This means the Thar facelift will feature a turbo petrol, and two diesel engine options.
At present, all of these engine options are available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic unit, except for the smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine, as it comes exclusively mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This smaller diesel powertrain also comes exclusively with a rear-wheel drive (2WD) layout.
So, to further boost the appeal of the Thar to a wider audience, we expect the 2WD version of the Thar facelift to feature an automatic gearbox, at least as an option.
Given, the Mahindra XUV700 facelift is touted to be introduced in 2026, we expect the Mahindra Thar facelift to be launched during the next Republic Day.
