When launched, the upcoming Kia Carens Clavis electric MPV will compete directly with the BYD eMax 7, which is priced between Rs 26.90 lakh and Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, the Tesla Model Y is also expected to launch tomorrow, coinciding with the commencement of bookings for the VinFast VF6 and VF7 models in India.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Battery Pack
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is anticipated to share powertrains with the Hyundai Creta Electric, which means the former is likely to get 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery options. These batteries will power a single electric motor located on the front axle.
Also, thanks to the larger dimensions of the Carens Clavis EV, the model is expected to have a slightly reduced range and performance compared to the Hyundai Creta Electric.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Powertrain & Range
The upcoming Kia Carens Clavis is expected to be powered by a single front-mounted electric motor with 171bhp and 255Nm of torque. In terms of range, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is expected to run 490km on a single charge.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Design
The exterior design of the Carens Clavis EV will closely resemble its ICE counterpart, featuring LED 'ice cube' headlights integrated into the front bumper and a slim LED light bar at the rear. However, Kia plans to introduce some distinct EV-specific styling elements such as modified bumpers and aero-optimised alloy wheels to differentiate it from its petrol-powered sibling.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Interior & Tech
Inside, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to maintain a similar layout to the ICE version. The cabin will likely feature a premium dual-tone dashboard with a dual-screen setup that includes a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a matching digital driver's display. This setup aims to provide an organised and modern interior experience for users.
Other anticipated tech include ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, a premium Bose sound system, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with four-way settings, a cabin air purifier, and wireless charging capabilities.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Safety Tech
Safety features are expected to be comprehensive, with standard offerings including six airbags, front and rear disc brakes, traction control, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill assist control, and vehicle stability management. Higher trim levels may also come equipped with Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety.
DriveSpark Thinks
Kia's approach with the Carens Clavis EV seems focused on blending familiar design elements with new technology tailored for electric vehicles. By offering both style and functionality akin to its ICE counterpart while incorporating unique EV features, Kia aims to make this model appealing in India's growing electric vehicle market.
