CarPlay Ultra Features & Highlights You Must Know: Aston Martin Leads The Way!
Apple has launched CarPlay Ultra, its latest in-car smartphone mirroring system. This new interface, first revealed at the 2022 Worldwide Developers Conference, is now available in Aston Martin vehicles.
What Is It?
CarPlay Ultra extends beyond the touchscreen, allowing users to mirror it on the instrument cluster. It also offers control over features like climate and audio settings through voice commands.

Launch Details
Initially, CarPlay Ultra is being introduced in the US and Canadian markets. The global rollout is expected within the next year. The system requires an iPhone 12 or newer running iOS 18.5 or later. This upgrade allows drivers to access both basic and advanced vehicle functions via on-screen controls or Siri, Apple's digital assistant.
Enhanced Driver's Display
The driver's display can now show information from an iPhone alongside traditional gauges like the speedometer and tachometer. Users can customise themes, backgrounds, screen layouts, and colour options to suit their preferences. This feature enhances the driving experience by integrating smartphone data with vehicle displays.
Aston Martin is leading the charge by offering CarPlay Ultra in its cars first. Models such as Vanquish, DB12, Vantage, DBX 707, and DBX S from the 2025 model year will come equipped with this system as standard. In the US and Canada, new Aston Martin cars already have access to this technology.
Touchscreen Capabilities
Through CarPlay Ultra's touchscreen interface, drivers can perform everyday tasks like changing music tracks or adjusting cabin temperature using Siri. It also supports more complex functions such as vehicle performance settings. Additionally, Apple iPhone widgets are introduced for quick information access.
Existing Aston Martin vehicles with next-gen infotainment systems will soon be eligible for a CarPlay Ultra upgrade via a software update at local dealerships in North America. This update aims to enhance user experience by integrating advanced smartphone functionalities into car systems.
Future Expansion Plans
Other car manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia, Genesis are working towards incorporating CarPlay Ultra into their upcoming models. This reflects a growing trend of integrating advanced technology into vehicles to improve convenience and connectivity for drivers worldwide.
DriveSpark Thinks
The introduction of CarPlay Ultra marks a significant step forward in automotive technology integration. By allowing seamless interaction between smartphones and car systems, it offers enhanced functionality and user experience for drivers globally.
