Skoda Kylaq Vs Kushaq – The Sibling Rivalry That Could Save You A Lot Of Money
The newly launched Skoda Kylaq SUV is the Czech automaker's first attempt at cracking the highly competitive sub-4m SUV segment. Though the model looks promising, it has an internal threat in the form of Kushaq.
While the Skoda Kushaq is a segment above the Kylaq SUV, both are built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform, and both these models are more similar to each other than they are different. As such, here's a quick comparison of the Kylaq SUV with the Kushaq SUV.

Design
In terms of the design, the Skoda Kylaq and the Skoda Kushaq SUV look very distinctive, especially from the front. However, both vehicles make good use of sharp and crisp lines to accentuate an air of premiumness.
That being said, both models feature distinctive styling, with the Kylaq featuring a more contemporary split headlamp design, whereas the Jushaq sports a conventional headlamp setup.
While both SUVs look clean from the sides, the presence of pseudo quarter glass on the C-pillar makes the Kushaq look slightly more premium compared to the Kylaq SUV. Also, the two-piece taillamp on the Kushaq looks more premium compared to the stubby-looking taillamp in the Kylaq SUV.

Dimensions
Though the Skoda Kylaq and Kushaq compete in different segments, their dimensions are very closely matched. In fact, the Skoda Kylaq is slightly more generous in some areas despite being positioned under the Kushaq SUV.

Interior
While the exterior of the Skoda Kylaq and Kushaq look very different, the interior looks very similar. The similarities even go down to the AC vent placement, albeit slightly different looking AC vents.
Furthermore, both these SUVs feature plenty of similar elements including the 2-spoke steering wheel, touch-sensitive AC control unit, infotainment unit, and instrument cluster.
Features & Safety
In terms of features, top-spec variants of both the Skoda Kylaq and Kushaq SUVs are very closely matched with features such as a large 10.1-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, a single-pane electric sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, keyless entry, ambient lighting, rear AC vents and push-button start-stop.
On top of that, all variants of the Skoda Kylaq and Kushaq SUVs come with top-tier safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking camera, TPMS, ESC, hill-start assist and rear parking sensors.
Powertrain
Both the Skoda Kylaq and Kushaq SUV come with the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 115hp and 178Nm of torque. Also, with this powertrain, both models can be optioned with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
That being said, Skoda Kushaw buyers can also equip it with a more powerful 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 150hp and 250Nm of torque. Also, this engine can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT unit.
Price
In terms of pricing, the Skoda Kylaq range starts from Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), which significantly cheaper than the Kushaq SUV with a starting price of Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
