Newspress To Present Unique Electric Vehicles At SMMT Test Day
Newspress will offer media professionals the opportunity to test drive unique electric vehicles during the SMMT Test Day at UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedfordshire, on Thursday, May 23rd. The event will feature a range of electric vehicles, including two types of electric 2CV: a standard model and a van. Both models can be driven around the Millbrook proving ground.
Additionally, an electric London taxi will be available for test drives. The two 2CVs have been provided by Darren Arthur at the 2CV Shop, while the electric cab is courtesy of Alex Howard, CEO of Clipper Automotive. Alongside these three vehicles, there will be a static display of an electrically powered Nissan Bluebird, known as the Newbird.
Newspress Managing Director Tim Barfoot expressed enthusiasm for the event. "We love the SMMT Test Day because it gives us the opportunity to connect with the people that use our service and have a natter about the industry and what’s coming down the line," he said. "Love ’em or loathe them, EVs are on the top of the automotive news agenda at the moment, so we felt it was high time that we got some cars in that are both interesting from a technological perspective but also as vehicles themselves. The 2CVs and the Clipper Cab are somewhat leftfield, and we hope journalists really have some fun driving them."
The SMMT Test Day will take place at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground near Bedford on Thursday, May 23rd.
